Notes from the Road

wow. i can't believe that i'm still sane after not writing for this long. please, please, please forgive me. i appreciate your emails
wondering if i was still alive. it's nice to be missed. i can't believe how mixed up my schedule has gotten. i just heard the big trash
truck outside emptying the dumpster. let's see how far back i can remember. i think the last time that i wrote was just before the
kansas city show at new earth coffee house. that was a great show. it was a record crowd. there were fire code violations and
everything. God has really blessed us with some amazing crowds this tour. we had some kind of random sound problems, mainly because we
didn't expect to have to project to that many people, but God, as usual, worked everything out. now that the tour's over, that's the
main thing that all of us are talking about. that is, the way that God totally smoothed out all of the details, and that more things
didn't go horribly wrong considering all that could have. nevertheless, after that show we came home for a few days. it was really nice
to be home and get some laundry done, but before we knew it, it was time to go again. while we were home, we did have time to do the
photo shoot for the new record. we thought that photo shoots in the past were long. this was incredible. we were out all day. i think
that we probably got some stuff that will work though. the people that we're working with on this are some of the best and most talented
in the business though. they're from 'jackson design,' and are out of nashville. they did all of the covers on our favorite cds. the
coolest thing was that buddy jackson was actually there helping, and generally directing the whole thing. he was just the coolest guy in
the world. amazing to see people that are that talented, and yet still that down to earth. michael, the photographer (that was totally
amazing as well) was a riot. as much as i really don't look forward to photo type stuff, i really had a good time. unfortunately, i'm no
more photogenic than i was before the photo shoot. oh well.
this last weekend represented the end of the tour. we left thursday afternoon and headed to marshall, texas, to etbu (east texas baptist
university). some of our good friends came out for the show, and we met a lot more that night afterwards. we played at their chapel that
morning as well. i'm not sure what they were expecting, but there were some fairly surprised faces in the crowd when we got done doing
'not the land' at 9 am. i hope that we didn't freak anybody out, it being that early and all. we all had a really good time though. we
left that night and headed to san antonio, to the harvest fellowship church. those folks are totally unbelievable. that whole day was
pretty unbelievable actually. they just had it all together. they had all these funny little presents for all of us, and just about
everything that we would ever need. they even had a whole table of nothing but toiletries, just in case we'd forgotten something. the
crowd that night was no less amazing. the room there holds just a little over 800. i think we ended up cramming almost 1000 people in
there saturday night. i love shows like that, because there's always so much energy in the room. that night was a blast. we got to stay
in san antonio that night, and then left the next morning for brenham. unfortunately we got out there a little later than we had
planned, but the people there were waiting to help as soon as we got there, so it didn't take long to get everything ready. there was a
praise band playing as well, and they were very patient with us, and the whole thing went over very well. they had some killer barbecue
there as well, so it was a great last show. some friends from a&m showed, so we really felt like we were home. regardless of where we
go, there's always a 'homey' vibe at texas shows. cliff even said that he noticed people laughing at him whenever he said 'y'all' from
stage at some of the out of state shows. don't worry, we still love y'all. well, that's about it. we're home now, and will be through
Christmas. we still have metros to play at, so if you're in town on a monday night, please come by and say hello. i will probably be
writing about once a week now that i'm home, but i vow to at least write that much from now on. i am indeed alive, and am going to start
acting like it. thank you to everyone that came to any of the shows and hung out or anything. you all have made our lives such a
blessing. it's amazing how God uses us all to bless each other in so many different ways. know that the cd release has been pushed to
march as far as store release goes, but we're working on trying to get some that we can sell at shows in february. if that works out,
then we'll probably start touring with it abruptly in february, so please check the page often to get the latest dates. we hope to see
you all again soon.
take care & God bless-
