Notes from the Road
wed 12:20 am
somewhere, oklahoma
whew. what a day. we all had a surprisingly restful night's sleep on the bus last night (this morning). oklahoma is beautiful. not a
cloud in the sky all day. the people here at the wesley foundation were so warm and welcoming (as we've found that all of the wesley
foundation folks are everywhere that we go). we played in their building in a chapel. it probably seated 300 or so people, but there
were about 340 people crammed in here, and we had to turn others away because of fire codes. needless to say, we were blown away by the
folks here. everyone hung out afterwards and we made a lot of very cool friends. hopefully we'll be able to get back out here, and out
to obu as well very soon. for a first night on the bus, and an official first day of the tour, things went surprisingly smooth. don
ROCKED on sound, but he, in his traditionally humble way, mumbled apologies for it. he's the greatest. God is working in such enormous
ways. i'll be very anxious to get home and reread all of these entries after the tour is over, and see all of the amazing things that
God has accomplished.
we're going to be in atlanta tomorrow (14 hours away), but have the night off tomorrow night. we're going to
see don's band play in atlanta, the gentle readers. they rock. there's a link to their homepage from our page (click on my picture in
the members section of the page). it'll be nice to get back in atlanta. that really became like a second home to us through the
recording of the new record. i'm honestly not sure where we're playing on thursday night, but you can check for dates somewhere on the
homepage. please continue praying for us, and hopefully we'll see you soon.
take care-
derek
ps- i know that i said in the last one that i'd post and talk about the new song that danielle and i co-wrote, but i'll have to do it on
the bus tonight because it may take a while. thanks for being patient. check back in a few days...
