Notes from the Road
mon 4:08 am
houston, texas
as usual, i’ve put off packing until the night before. since we’re going to be more north than south, i’m having to
break out my warm stuff. i’m afraid that packing light is kind of out of the question. i was talking to cliff, and he said that
we’re supposed to pack clothes for about a week, and then we would just do laundry. not too excited about that idea. i’m a
pretty good packer though, so i might have to try and smuggle some extra stuff onto the bus somehow. we spent the better part of the
night ringing out and generally getting familiar with the road sound system. it rocks. rod (the guy from BIG HOUSE SOUND out of austin
who owns the system) is incredible. he came out to make sure that everything worked properly, and basically hung out the whole night.
you just couldn’t ask to work with a nicer guy. speaking of sound, big don mccollister got in today as well. it was just great to
see him again. we all feel some strange/cool connection with don. i’m so looking forward to getting out on the road and getting to
know don better. if diane (his wife) happens to be reading this, we swear that we’ll take good care of him. we’ll feed him
at least twice a day, and make sure that he’s clean. thanks for letting him come out and play.
i’m finally getting over nervous, and starting to get excited. seeing all of that gear tonight really started to get me into the
road mind set. should be a blast. anyway, i’m gonna get packing, but i’ll talk to you in a few days. next time i write
i’ll post the lyrics to, and talk about the new song that i co-wrote with danielle, ‘piece of glass.’ i hope that all
is well where you are.
take
care-
