Notes from the Road
fri 1:44 am
houston, texas
i'm nervous. we only have about 3 more days until we get on a bus and leave town for forever (that's approximately 5 weeks in bus time).
i suppose that i'm looking forward to it, but leaps of faith always make me a little apprehensive. i'll just be interested to see how
God sustains us over touring that long. at least we'll be aware of where our energy (and voices) are coming from (and where they're
not). i'm really looking forward to letting everyone know what's happening on the road, and when we're home for that matter. i will
apologize now, as i tend to be a little scatter brained late at night after shows (which is when i intend on doing most of my writing).
i may get a little random sometimes, but please bare with me.
truthfully, i'm looking forward to getting some writing done (since i
haven't written a thing since we recorded the new record, except for a song that danielle and i co-wrote in atlanta which i'll talk
about later), and having a chance to get alone and refocus. for those of you in houston, we will be at metro on monday night playing so
please come by and say hello if you can. the guy (genius) that produced the new cd, don mccollister, will be there doing sound, as he
will be traveling with us for a while. let me just say again that don mccollister is amazing. he breathed a breath of life into the
record like no one else could have done. i can't wait for y'all to hear it. i might have to make a million copies of my little reference
tape and release it independently in a few weeks. i'll keep you posted. well, i intend on contributing to the journal every other day at
the least, so please check back often. i'll try to give you my honest feelings about shows, writing, exploring Christian thought,
occasional soap boxes, the book 'a prayer for owen meany' by john irving (which is my favorite of what seems like 6,472 books that i'm
trying to read), and the general road scenario day to day. please be praying for us.
talk to you soon-
derek
